Bearing Down or Bearing Fruit?

Our Sunday School teacher recently brought our class to John 15...the “I Am the Vine” passage. I was politely listening when suddenly it hit me...had I become “unattached” from the Vine?

In prayer and Scripture reading following that Sunday School class, I discovered I had, indeed, become unattached. I was bearing down but I was not bearing fruit! I do not know how or when it happened, but it happened. I quickly asked Jesus to reattach me as I really need his life-giving, fruit-bearing sap to flow through me. It is happening even as I write this to you.

So...I would humbly suggest you check to see that you are still attached to THE VINE! After a grueling year, lots of stuff gets shaken. Take this time NOW to “check in” with the Vine to ensure you are not trying to face your problems, issues, and ministry in your own power. It will be a disaster if that is the case.

“Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you unless you abide in Me” (emphasis added).

“I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing”
(John 15:4-5, NASB).

Go for it!
